EPIC Bar and Nightclub’s first Halloween 1-Mile Fun Run and Competitive Run kicks off the Boo’s & Booze block party. Runners meet by the block party’s main stage at 500 N. Stanton St. at 1:30 p.m., run five laps around San Jacinto Plaza and finish back at the party. The competitive run goes first, with medals for the top three male and female finishers, and the fun run starts at 2:30 p.m.
Registration is $20 ($25 from Oct. 27 to 31), $20 for runners 18 and under with a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, and $200 for a group of 10, and it includes admission to the block party. The first 100 registrants get a commemorative finisher medal, a drawstring bag and raffle tickets, and a runners-only costume contest follows the run. Early check-in is Thursday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 9 p.m. at EPIC, 510 N. Stanton St.
