Varsity Bar Houston

Varsity Bar at 611 Hyde Park Blvd opened in late 2025 at the former Eagle Houston location in Montrose, bringing new life to one of the gayborhood’s most historic spaces. Conceived by bar owner Jeff Harmon as a sports-themed ‘video bar’ — inspired by Sidetracks in Chicago and Bourbon Pub in New Orleans — Varsity plays music videos and sports games on its many TVs downstairs while hosting drag shows and live events upstairs. Two floors, upgraded amenities, shaded outdoor areas.
