The Bang Bang Bar

The Bang Bang Bar is a vinyl-spinning, cocktail-slinging vintage dive bar at 119 El Mio St, just off the McCullough corridor in San Antonio. Opened in January 2016 by Jamie Hoppe along with Jenn Alva and Phanie D — both members of acclaimed San Antonio indie band Girl in a Coma — the bar takes its name from the David Lynch “Twin Peaks” Roadhouse and occupies a building with deep roots in the city’s underground music and queer nightlife history, having previously housed the goth clubs Changez and Phazez, punk dive Sluggo’s, and the lesbian nightlife staple Bermuda Triangle. The Bang Bang is open daily from noon to 2 AM with karaoke on Sundays, DJs Monday through Friday, live bands on Saturdays, and a side game room featuring pool, Skee-Ball, and electronic darts. Voted Best Dive Bar in 2023 by the San Antonio Current and welcoming to all, it remains a fixture of the city’s LGBTQ+-friendly nightlife scene.The Bang Bang Bar es un bar dive vintage de vinilo y cócteles ubicado en 119 El Mio St, junto al corredor de McCullough en San Antonio. Inaugurado en enero de 2016 por Jamie Hoppe junto a Jenn Alva y Phanie D — ambas integrantes de la reconocida banda indie sanantoniana Girl in a Coma — el bar toma su nombre del Roadhouse de “Twin Peaks” de David Lynch y ocupa un edificio con profundas raíces en la historia musical underground y queer de la ciudad, habiendo albergado previamente los clubes góticos Changez y Phazez, el bar punk Sluggo’s y el referente de la noche lésbica Bermuda Triangle.
